About Sally...
Sally Andersen is a Portuguese artist whose practice grows from a careful attention to the world around us. After spending three years in Denmark, she returned to Portugal to study Fine Arts and Multimedia at the University of Évora, where she began exploring the relationship between people, nature, and the forces that move through us.
Her work is guided by gesture, sensation, and a sensitive listening to the present moment. For Sally, art “ceases to be merely a representation of my vision of something, becoming part of me”, creating a space of experience and expression that makes the invisible visible.
Her practice is rooted in intuition and experimentation with different materials and media. Each piece is approached as a living body, emerging from the interaction between matter, energy, gesture, and environment. In this way, Sally seeks to create experiences that engage the senses and invite the audience to slow down, feel, and reconnect with themselves and their surroundings.
She draws inspiration from the rhythms, textures, colours, and sounds of everyday life, translating them into gestures and forms that bring the viewer closer to the sublime. As she puts it: “This is the sensitivity I want to bring to my work: a gesture that spans time, connecting past, present, and future.”
For Sally, creating is an act of connection, discovery, and reflection — a space where body, mind, and environment meet. Her art encourages us to notice the beauty in the details, to feel the energy that moves through us, and to appreciate the present moment, transforming observation into an experience of conscious presence.
